Majestic and robust, this botanical beauty descends from herbal royalty. Breeders created Cinderella 99 with the intention of bringing a lively and aromatic sativa-dominant hybrid to market. To achieve this goal, they kickstarted their project with the legend that is Jack Herer. Named after the famous cannabis author and activist, this variety has become a favourite all over the world. Many growers sow these seeds every season to experience an energising high and fruity terpenes.
After selecting Jack Herer, breeders opted to include Shiva Skunk to add a stoning element to the progeny. This indica-dominant hybrid descends from Skunk #1 and Northern Lights #5. She produces high levels of THC, sweet and skunky terpenes, and large and dense colas. After crossing these varieties, breeders created a stable phenotype with a sativa-dominant genetic profile.
Since her creation, the C99 strain has become commonplace in Dutch coffeeshops and American dispensaries. Many smokers routinely purchase these buds to experience a motivating and cognitive high. This strain has also become popular among home growers looking for large yields in small spaces.
Cinderella 99 owes much of her success to her ancestors. Both Jack Herer and Shiva Skunk amassed considerable acclaim before breeders even dreamt up C99. However, this strain offers more than just the sum of her parts; her succulent terpene profile and cerebral high managed to secure her a place in the CannaConnection Hall of Fame[1], among other accolades. With no troublesome step-sisters in the way to prevent her rise, Cinderella 99 has become a star in her own right.
The Cinderella strain grows both indoors and outdoors with little protest. Her brief flowering time makes her a good choice for growers seeking a quick harvest. Some experience with photoperiod genetics will help you achieve the best results possible. However, complete beginners can achieve satisfying yields with this variety too.
Cinderella 99 maintains a medium height regardless of her growing environment. There are several techniques you can employ if you need to keep plants as small as possible. This strain responds well to a range of methods, including LST, main-lining, and ScrOG.
You’ll need to feed C99 well during the vegetative phase to fuel her broad fan leaves. Liquid seaweed and fish extract are excellent sources of nitrogen. KNF preparations such as lactic acid bacteria will also speed up the decomposition of organic matter into plant-available nutrients.
During the flowering phase, switch to fertiliser sources richer in potassium and phosphorus to facilitate optimal flower formation and development. Overall, you can expect large yields in your grow room or garden. Prepare to harvest after a brief flowering time of 8–9 weeks indoors, or in early October outdoors.
Cinderella 99 can pose some challenges depending on the climate you grow her in. High levels of humidity are especially problematic during the late flowering phase. Her large and dense colas are an ideal habitat for mould when wet.
To minimise the risk of mould indoors, ensure good circulation using fans and an exhaust. Outdoors, keep greenhouse windows open and shelter your plants from excess rainfall. Training techniques, such as topping and LST, will create a canopy filled with smaller and more uniform buds that are less prone to mould and rot.
The Cinderella strain offers a complex mix of tastes and aromas. After hitting a bong or blunt, you’ll experience notes of sweetness and tropical fruits mingling with subtle flavours of cheese, making for a rich and well-rounded flavour.
So, what makes Cinderella 99 taste and smell so good? Well, her buds are packed with terpenes, especially the following three:
So, what can you expect when blazing Cinderella 99 buds? Well, this largely depends on how you grow her. Well-looked-after specimens will produce a THC content as high as 22%. Paired with her diverse terpenes, this psychoactive molecule will impart an energising high that will get you out of bed in the morning, excited to take on the day. Smoke these flowers before pursuing active hobbies, from hitting the gym to managing your garden.
Our skilled breeders have experimented with a lot of different strains over the years. However, something about Cinderella 99 stuck with them. In fact, this cultivar helped to inspire the creation of Sweet ZZ. Although indica dominant, this strain shares some features with Cinderella 99, including a high THC content of 22% and delicious fruity terpenes.
