Using RQS Cannabis Fertilisers Outdoors: Royal Gorilla
Now that you’re aware of some of the best cannabis fertilisers available, it’s time to put that knowledge into action! First, we’ll show you how to use these products when growing outdoors. We’ll use Royal Gorilla as an example. If you value high-THC levels, you’ll want to try this strain as well!
April
Our growing season starts on April 18th in this example, and takes place over 26 weeks. Let’s get started!
Kick things off by germinating your seeds. Take advantage of Easy Start during this time to increase germination rates and give your seedlings the best start possible. Your seedlings will take 3–7 days to emerge from the soil. Keep them in their cells until they reach a height of 3–5cm and develop their first sets of true leaves.
May
During May, your seedlings will start to hit a growth spurt, signalling the early stage of the vegetative phase. Prepare their new home, pot them on, and watch them grow!
Prepare the potting mix into which you’ll transplant your seedlings. Grab some well-rotted homemade compost or pick up a few bags of regular potting soil. Next, add 50–100g of Easy Boost for every 20l of soil. Next, add 20g of Rhizobacter to the mix, followed by 5g of Mycorrhiza Mix. Then, mix the ingredients thoroughly. Your seedlings have almost everything they need to thrive for the next few weeks. Keep them watered and under some strong lights for at least 16 hours each day.
June
By this time, you’ll see plenty of new vegetative growth beginning to emerge. With help from their allied microbes, your plants will have tapped into the initial nutrients you provided. Now, you’ll need to start feeding them again to make sure they don’t run into any deficiencies. Apply the following nutrients throughout the rest of the vegetative phase to keep your plants strong and healthy:
- Easy Grow: Dissolve 1 tablet into 3–5l of water and apply once every 7 days.
- Easy Plus: This fertiliser will deliver key micronutrients to help avoid any deficiencies. Add 1 tablet to 5–8l of water and apply every 10 days. Just make sure to avoid using Easy Plus on the same day you feed your plants with Easy Grow.
- Bigger Flowers: Add 1ml of this product to every litre of water, and apply every two days to give your plants a boost with additional nutrients and growth stimulators.
- Rhizobacter: Add another dose of Rhizobacter during early June. The original colony should be settled in by now, but it helps to add more as the root system continues to expand. Add 1g to every litre of water and apply as a root drench.
To keep things consistent, and to avoid using certain products on the same days, mark down feed days with each formula on your growing calendar.
July
Continue with the feeding regimen set out above. Cannabis plants maintain quite an even appetite during the vegetative phase. Keep feeding them, and watch your efforts pay off as luscious green fan leaves continue to form.
Add another 1g dose of Rhizobacter as a root drench during early July to spur on the colonisation of the root system and improve nutrient exchange between your plants and beneficial bacteria.
August: Weeks 1–4 of Flowering
Things are about to get exciting! As the days continue to get shorter, your outdoor Royal Gorilla plants will start to flower. Cannabis plants develop a different appetite during this time, requiring more of some nutrients and less of others.
⇢ Week 1
It’s time to swap out your vegging fertilisers with food for the flowering phase. Use the following products to get the best results:
- Bat Guano: Add a top dressing of Bat Guano. Apply 100g to each of your pots, lightly dig in, and water well. This will provide a source of phosphorus and organic matter that will break down throughout the flowering phase, feeding your plants and soil at the same time.
- Easy Bloom: This organic fertiliser will ramp up phosphorus and potassium levels during flowering. Add 1 tablet to 5–8l of water, and use once every 7 days.
- Easy Plus: You can continue using Easy Plus at the same dose and frequency. Just avoid using it on the same days as Easy Bloom.
- Bigger Flowers: You’ll need to change how you apply this fertiliser during the flowering phase. During week 1 of flowering, apply 0.5ml per litre every two days.
- Thicker Flowers: Apply 0.1ml per litre every day while watering.
- Rhizobacter: Apply another 1g dose of Rhizobacter to improve cannabinoid production during flowering.
⇢ Week 2
Maintain Easy Bloom and Easy Plus feeding. Increase the Bigger Flowers dose to 0.8ml per litre, and increase Thicker Flowers to 0.2ml per litre.
⇢ Week 3
Apply nutrients in the same quantities as week 2 of flowering. Increase your Thicker Flowers dose to 0.3ml per litre.
⇢ Week 4
Maintain Easy Bloom and Easy Plus feedings. Increase your Bigger Flowers dose to 1ml per litre. Maintain this dose until you flush your plants before harvest. Increase your Thicker Flowers dose to 0.4ml per litre.
September: Weeks 5–8 of Flowering
Your Royal Gorilla plants will continue to cruise through the flowering stage during September. Follow the regimen below to keep things budding smoothly.
⇢ Week 5
Now, you can start to include Sweeter Flowers in your feeding schedule to treat plants to additional amino acids and potassium. Start off by feeding 0.4ml per litre when watering. Increase your Thicker Flowers dose to 0.5ml per litre.
⇢ Week 6
Increase the Sweeter Flowers dose to 0.7ml per litre and the Thicker Flowers dose to 0.6ml per litre.
⇢ Week 7
Increase the Sweeter Flowers dose to 0.8ml per litre. Reduce the Thicker Flowers dose to 0.5ml per litre.
⇢ Week 8
Increase the Sweeter Flowers dose to 1ml per litre, and maintain this amount until you flush your plants. Reduce the Thicker Flowers dose to 0.4ml per litre.
October: Harvest Time and Flushing
It’s almost time to smoke the fruits of your labour! Give your plants one final feed with the following fertilisers and supplements before flushing. Feed with Easy Bloom in the same quantities. Give one final feed of Sweeter Flowers at 1ml per litre and Thicker Flowers at 0.4ml per litre. Expect to harvest your Royal Gorilla plants on October 16th. Start flushing your plants two days after the final feed on October 1st.
Using RQS Fertilisers Indoors: Green Gelato Automatic
If you prefer growing indoors, we’ll now walk you through using RQS cannabis fertilisers in this setting. We’ll use Green Gelato Automatic as an example. This sativa-dominant auto offers high levels of THC, a banquet of tasty terpenes, and grows with serious speed. Use our nutrients and supplements to keep her strong, healthy, and productive. Just keep in mind that autoflowering strains require less nutrients than their photoperiod counterparts. You'll notice we've halved the nutrients below to accommodate these speedy plants.
Week 1: Germination
First things first, you need to germinate your seeds. We recommend using Easy Start to provide an optimal environment and increase germination rates. Pop your seeds into the growing medium and wait 3–7 days for them to burst through the soil.
While you wait patiently, put a potting mix together. Autos thrive in light and airy soil. The following recipe provides the perfect growing medium for these speedy plants:
- 3 parts peat moss
- 3 parts compost
- 2 part perlite, pre-wet
- 1 part vermiculite, pre-wet
Once you’ve put your potting mix together, add 50–100g of Easy Boost and 20g of Rhizobacter to every 20l of soil and give it a good mix. Then, fill up your containers.
Week 2: The Vegetative Phase Begins
By now, your seedlings should stand at around 3–5cm tall and possess a couple of small true leaves. They’re getting bigger, so they need a new home. Make a hole in the middle of your containers. Add 5g of Mycorrhiza Mix into each hole to inoculate the root system with beneficial microbes. Place your seedlings into their new pots and water them in.
Week 3
Your plants are coming to the end of the vegetative phase already! During this week, give them a feed to fuel the last few days of leafy growth. Dilute 1 tablet of Easy Grow to 7–10l of water and apply it once every 7 days. You can also treat your plants to growth stimulators during this time. Add 0.5ml of Bigger Flowers to every litre of water, and apply every two days until flowering begins.
Week 4: Flowering Starts
We told you Green Gelato Auto grows fast! Welcome to the flowering stage. You’ll need to change up your nutrients as your plants become increasingly hungry for phosphorus and potassium. Use the blend below for optimal results:
- Bat Guano: Top-dress each of your pots with 50g of Bat Guano for a phosphorus boost.
- Easy Bloom: Add 1 tablet to 12–16l of water and use it once every 7 days throughout the flowering stage.
- Bigger Flowers: Apply 0.25ml per litre of water every two days.
- Thicker Flowers: Apply 0.05ml per litre every day that you water.
Week 5
Your flowering plants should look vibrant right now! Make the following modifications to your feeding schedule to keep them healthy:
- Maintain Easy Bloom as before.
- Increase Bigger Flowers to 0.4ml per litre.
- Increase Thicker Flowers to 0.1ml per litre.
Week 6
It’s time to give your green babies another dose of Rhizobacter to keep those roots colonised. Add 1g of powder as a root drench to each plant. Increase the Thicker Flowers dose to 0.15ml per litre.
Week 7
You’ll need to up your nutrients again a tiny bit. This final feed will help with flower formation and cannabinoid synthesis. Follow the instructions below:
- Maintain Easy Bloom feeding as before.
- Increase Bigger Flowers dose to 0.5ml per litre.
- Increase Thicker Flowers dose to 0.2ml per litre.
Week 8: Flush and Harvest
The hard work is almost over! Stop all feeding at this point and flush your plants now; this way, they’ll be ready for harvest in around two weeks.
