What Does Feminised Cannabis Seeds Mean?

Feminised cannabis seeds are 99.9% guaranteed to produce buds, making them perfect for indoor and outdoor growers. All of our feminised seeds are photoperiod, meaning you'll need to strike the right balance of light and darkness to make them flower.

To quickly and easily tell if weed seeds are feminised, check the datasheet on the relevant product page. The datasheet contains key attributes and will help you pick the perfect cannabis seeds.

What Are the Advantages of Feminised Cannabis Seeds?

Whether you're entirely new to growing cannabis or an experienced hand, our feminised cannabis seeds offer several distinct benefits:

  • 99.9% guaranteed to produce bud-bearing female plants
  • Straightforward to grow—no need to check for male plants
  • Suitable for indoor and outdoor growing
  • Reliable genetics
  • Maximum potency and aroma
  • Larger yields compared to autoflowering and regular cannabis seeds

Why Choose Feminised Cannabis Seeds?

Growers and cannabis users of all stripes love feminised marijuana seeds for several reasons:

  • Growers favour larger, more robust plants that respond well to training. Feminised seeds give them time to learn how to become a better grower.
  • Recreational users find the flavour, aroma, and high intensely satisfying. With a vast selection to choose from, it's easy to find a feminised strain you'll adore.
  • For holistic users, feminised cannabis seeds offer diverse cannabinoid profiles rich in THC and/or CBD.

Differences Between Indica and Sativa Feminised Cannabis Seeds

All of our feminised weed seeds autumn under two subspecies—indica and sativa. Yet, these categories do little to describe the effects of individual strains—that's more to do with terpene profiles—so if you want to try strains with different effects, we recommend reading the product description and datasheet to see which is suitable.

The subspecies does, however, influence characteristics such as leaf shape, plant size, and total flowering time:

  • Indicas typically grow shorter, with a bushy structure and broader leaves. They also tend to flower in less time than sativas, making them ideal for colder, rainier climates.
  • Sativas grow tall, with longer branches and thinner leaves, and they often take longer to flower. Sativas love the sun and thrive in warm climates.

Most cannabis seeds contain a mix of indica and sativa genetics (technically making them hybrids) and display characteristics of both as a result. The datasheet will tell you the exact ratio of genetics (for example: 50% sativa, 50% indica).

How To Grow Feminised Cannabis Seeds

You can easily grow feminised cannabis seeds indoors (in a tent or grow room) or outdoors (in a greenhouse or garden).

How To Grow Feminised Cannabis Seeds Indoors

Start by germinating your seeds. Place them between moist paper towels or use an Easy Start tray to boost germination rate.

Once seedlings develop a few nodes, transplant them into their final pots and place them into your grow tent. You'll need to manage light, humidity, and water to ensure successful growth and flowering. To switch the phase of your plants’ development, you’ll have to adjust light and dark hours accordingly:

  • Seedling: 20 hours of light, 4 hours of darkness (20/4)
  • Vegetative phase: 18/6
  • Flowering phase: 12/12

Photoperiod cannabis plants react to light as they would in nature, vegetating during the spring and summer months, before blooming as the daylight hours fade towards autumn. As an indoor grower, your job is to replicate those conditions.

The average time from seed to harvest is around 3.5 months, but this varies according to the flowering time of your strain, and when you choose to make the switch from veg to bloom.

How To Grow Feminised Marijuana Seeds Outdoors

After germinating your seeds, keep your seedlings on a warm windowsill or in a greenhouse. When they outgrow their original container, transplant them into their final pot or a spacious garden bed. Most outdoor growers plant seeds in early spring, once the threat of frost is gone.

Your plants will remain in the vegetative phase until the hours of sunlight decrease toward the end of summer, prompting flowering. Outdoor cannabis plants are usually ready to harvest between late September and early November.

What's the Ideal Temperature and Humidity for a Grow Tent?

Cannabis plants flourish in moderate temperatures (approximately 21°C), although most strains can handle small fluctuations. Be cautious of extreme changes in temperature, as this may lead to a failed harvest.

The optimal relative humidity (RH) varies according to the plant’s stage of development. You'll need to adjust humidity accordingly to achieve the best results:

  • Seedling: 65–70%
  • Vegetative: 50–70%
  • Flowering: 40–50%

What Is the Best Soil for Feminised Cannabis Seeds?

Several types of shop-bought soil are perfectly suitable for cannabis growing. However, all soils should meet the following criteria:

  • Nutrient-rich
  • Well-aerated
  • Well-draining

Do Feminised Cannabis Seeds Need Nutrients?

Do Feminised Cannabis Seeds Need Nutrients?

All cannabis plants need three macronutrients to thrive:

  • Nitrogen (N)
  • Phosphorus (P)
  • Potassium (K)

Plants will need different ratios of these nutrients during the vegetative and flowering phases, alongside adjustments in micronutrients like calcium, iron, magnesium, copper, and several others.

Pre-made cannabis fertilisers offer an easy solution with specific formulas for each stage of growth. RQS Easy Boost supplies all of the foundational nutrients needed throughout the growing cycle. Easy Grow adds additional vegetative nutrients, and Easy Bloom covers all of the necessary bases for optimal flowering.

How To Water Feminised Cannabis Seeds

Cannabis plants need regular watering to grow and flower successfully. The usual approach is to water well every 1–3 days. However, a common mistake amongst novices is overwatering, so keep an eye out for signs of overwatering in leaves, including:

  • Wilting/drooping
  • Curling downwards
  • Slight yellowing

To avoid root rot and harming plants, ensure the soil is dry before watering. You can quickly check the dryness by inserting your finger knuckle-deep into the substrate. If the soil still feels moist, wait another day before checking again. If in doubt, water well, but not too often!
