We all love a rich cannabis brownie or a chewy chocolate chip cookie, but it's time to up the game and try something different. Cannabutter fudge is a very easy way to get your fix of chocolate with a side of weed and it's very versatile, allowing you to add various ingredients for different flavours. The best part? You don't even have to bake it, which means that even those with minimal skills in the kitchen can achieve superb results.
Cannabis concentrate fans can also enjoy this recipe and make an extra potent fudge. Just make sure you check if you need to decarboxylate your favourite concentrate first, and then you're good to go!
But before we get started: what is the trick to making delicious fudge? Use a double boiler to melt the butter, this way the heat is evenly distributed and not too intense. Mix your ingredients well, but avoid overmixing. As soon as you see everything come together and become smooth, put the spoon away!
Cannabutter vs Cannabis Coconut Oil
Our easy recipe features good old cannabutter as the vehicle for weed, but there are other options out there that can also be considered. It's easy to make this recipe vegan by taking the cannabis-infused coconut oil route. For most recipes, you can substitute butter for coconut oil in 1:1 proportions.
What's the better option then, cannabutter or cannabis coconut oil? You can check our dedicated article here, but let's briefly review the advantages and disadvantages of these two options for the purpose of this recipe.
Some advantages of cannabutter:
- Easy to make
- Has a rich flavour
- It's relatively inexpensive
- Has a high fat content
On the other hand, it's not considered the healthiest option and it's not suitable for vegans.
Advantages of coconut oil:
- Vegan
- Highly nutritious
Compared to butter though, it's usually more expensive, somewhat more difficult to source and arguably not as rich in flavour.
As you see, both cannabutter and coconut oil are great options, it all comes down to your circumstances and preferences.
