Whilst we've been thinking up healthier ways to enjoy marijuana, we've fallen in love with the avocado.

These little green beauties are loaded with vitamins and fibre, and have all 18 of the essential amino acids. They are filling, tasty and creamy - and packed with healthy, monounsaturated fats. These fats are not only THC-soluble, they also boost your high-density lipoprotein levels - which can help to reduce your risk of heart disease. The benefits of avocados are so numerous, and they're even green - which makes them a perfect ingredient for preparing a batch of healthy cannabis edibles.

The smooth, creamy flavour of avocado is lovely, and acts as a balancing agent when paired with the strong, herby taste of weed. Add in some other savoury flavours and a little spice and you have the perfect medicinal guacamole! The recipe is vegan, tastes awesome and is great for parties and barbecues. Holy moly! It's easy to prepare - just make sure you use decarboxylated weed. Here's what you'll need.

INGREDIENTS

14g of your finest quality cannabis - finely ground and decarboxylated

4 ripe avocados - peeled, pitted and mashed up

2 limes - juiced

2 cloves garlic - crushed and chopped

2 plum tomatoes - roughly chopped

1 small red onion - finely diced

OPTIONAL ADD-INS, FOR FLAVOUR

Black pepper - freshly ground

Salt - we like to use freshly ground Himalayan pink salt, but any will do

Chopped jalapeños

Chopped chili peppers or chili oil

Cayenne pepper

Paprika

Coriander

METHOD

Once you have prepared all your ingredients, add them all to a blender or food processor and roughly blitz your guacamole so all the ingredients are mixed but it's still a little chunky. Add extra ingredients to your taste, and process it a little further until it's smooth. It's a lot of fun experimenting with different spice combinations, and finding out what works best with the marijuana flavour.

Transfer your guacamole to a bowl and dress it with a dash of extra virgin olive oil. If you want a little extra kick in your dip, you can use cannabis-infused oil. Cover the whole thing with clingfilm and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving with corn tortillas or carrot sticks.

Easy, huh? The guacamole truly is divine, a perfect way to get stoned on a summer afternoon. It's so moreish you'll be tempted to eat the whole bowl - just remember, this recipe contains a whole half ounce of cannabis. It's potent - so share it!
