What Is CBD Oil?

CBD oil contains cannabidiol, a non psychotropic molecule from hemp that produces soothing and clearheaded effects. As a full-spectrum organic product, RQS CBD oil also contains aromatic terpenes that work alongside CBD to enhance these effects. Our products are available in a range of concentrations from 2.5–40% CBD. Carrier oil options include hemp seed oil, MCT oil, and olive oil.

Where Does CBD Come From?

As a cannabinoid, CBD stems from the cannabis plant. The molecule occurs in both high-CBD cannabis cultivars and industrial hemp plants. If you’ve ever looked at hemp or cannabis flowers up close, you probably noticed small sparkly structures dotted over the surface. These glands—known as trichomes—manufacture CBD and other cannabinoids and excrete them within a viscous resin.

How Is RQS CBD Oil Produced?

We use the finest hemp flowers and state-of-the-art extraction technology to create our range of CBD oils. We start out with organically cultivated hemp grown in the fields of Switzerland. After harvest, we use supercritical CO₂ extraction to obtain CBD, synergistic terpenes, and other valuable phytochemicals, before mixing them with a variety of tasty carrier oils.

How Is the CBD in CBD Oil Extracted?

To begin the process, we load supercritical extraction vessels with organic CBD flowers and fill compression chambers with CO₂. Upon activating the machine, changes in pressure within the compression chambers suspend the CO₂ in a supercritical state, giving it the properties of both a liquid and a gas. This substance then enters the extraction vessel, where it acts as a solvent to absorb cannabinoids and terpenes. The extract then enters a separator where all of the CO₂ is removed, leaving behind an entirely pure, full-spectrum CBD extract.

Why Choose CBD Oil From RQS?

Our CBD oils are pure, full-spectrum, and derived from expertly cultivated organic hemp flowers. Additionally, all of our CBD products are third-party tested. We send samples from every batch off to a laboratory to test for impurities, heavy metals, and other contaminants. This unbiased testing process ensures that every bottle contains unadulterated CBD free of unwanted additives and adverse levels of THC.

How to Choose the Right CBD Oil

When browsing CBD oils, you’ll come across a bunch of different products. Here are the main things to look for when buying for the first time.

  • Potency

CBD oil can vary significantly in potency. We recommend starting with a lower concentration (2.5–5%) to test the waters and see how CBD works for you. As your tolerance grows, you can opt for more concentrated formulas.

  • Carrier Oils

Different CBD oils feature different carrier oils. These carriers serve to dilute CBD extracts and help the body absorb as much of the cannabinoid as possible. Users have the choice of olive oil, black seed oil, MCT oil, and hemp seed oil. Each offers its own taste and nutritional benefits.

  • Dropper Bottles vs Capsules

CBD oils are mostly available in dropper bottles or capsules. Every user has their own preferred method; capsules are easy to swallow and fit effortlessly into an existing supplement regimen. Dropper bottles allow for more freedom when it comes to dosing and can be placed directly under the tongue for faster absorption.

How to Take CBD Oil?

As a versatile product, users can take CBD oil in a variety of ways. Add drops into your favourite drinks, on top of snacks, or directly into your mouth. Swallowing, eating, or drinking CBD oil produces long-lasting effects that take a bit longer to come on. Conversely, holding drops under your tongue for around a minute—known as sublingual administration—leads to a much faster onset of effects.

When to Take CBD Oil?

There is no right or wrong time to take CBD, so personal preference guides most users. For some, CBD lifts their spirits and goes down much better in the morning alongside a cup of coffee. Others prefer to take it throughout the day to maintain focus and stay relaxed. You might find you prefer to dose CBD in the evening to unwind and get ready for bed.

How to Dose CBD Oil?

There are two primary ways to take CBD: oral and sublingual. The oral route (eating or drinking CBD) sends the cannabinoid through the digestive tract and liver before it enters the blood. The sublingual route involves holding drops under the tongue until they dissolve. This way, CBD diffuses into the blood vessels under the tongue and directly into the bloodstream.

Suggestions From RQS

When dosing CBD orally, we recommend combining CBD oil with your favourite food. This makes it effortless and enjoyable to take. Put some drops into a tasty smoothie or add some on top of your favourite fruit.

When taking CBD sublingually, place a few drops under your tongue and hold them there as long as you can (up to around one minute). Although it becomes tempting to swallow, the longer you hold it there, the more CBD will pass through into your blood and produce near-immediate effects.

How to Store CBD Oil?

Keep your CBD oil in a cool, dark place. Each bottle contains natural cannabinoids and terpenes that degrade when exposed to light and heat over time. By keeping them in the dark, you’ll preserve the valuable phytochemicals within the formula.

Is CBD Oil legal?

Laws regarding CBD vary from country to country. The cannabinoid remains legal in most of Europe and the UK, considering the oil is derived from hemp and contains no more than 0.2% THC. The same applies in the United States, with a slightly higher legal limit of 0.3% THC. No matter where you live, we recommend checking with your local authority before ordering CBD products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both new and long-term users often have a lot of questions about CBD. Find out the answers to the most common queries below.

What Is CBD Oil Good For?
CBD produces its effects by interacting with a body-wide system known as the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS consists of various receptors found all throughout the body, as well as signalling molecules known as endocannabinoids. By boosting our levels of endocannabinoids, CBD may help to elevate the mood and reduce feelings of nervousness. The cannabinoid also produces a soothing effect, prompting many people to use the molecule after long days or intense workouts.
CBD Oil Ingredients
CBD oils don’t just contain CBD; these products offer an array of other ingredients that work in harmony to produce the best possible effects.

Carrier Oils

Carrier oils are natural oils high in fat, allowing them to bind to cannabinoids. This reaction makes CBD much more bioavailable, meaning you absorb more of the molecules with every drop. Common carrier oils include olive oil and hemp seed oil.

Terpenes

These aromatic molecules are formed alongside cannabinoids in the trichomes of hemp flowers. They produce earthy and fruity aromas and help to enhance the effects of full-spectrum CBD oil through the entourage effect.

Flavonoids

Flavonoids are found all throughout the plant kingdom. These molecules provide antioxidant effects and add an additional phytochemical punch to CBD oils.
Other Cannabinoids

Other Cannabinoids

Hemp flowers contain other cannabinoids that produce unique effects. The non-psychotropic cannabinoids CBG and CBN are growing in popularity, and are now available in formulas alongside CBD.

Whole-Plant, Full-Spectrum, Broad-Spectrum, and Isolate CBD Oil
Contrary to popular belief, more CBD doesn’t necessarily mean better. Although CBD isolate products contain huge amounts of CBD, full-spectrum and whole-plant CBD oils make use of all of the beneficial phytochemicals within hemp. Many of these molecules work together to produce a more balanced and beneficial effect.
CBD Oil vs Tinctures
CBD oils are made using CO₂ extraction, where supercritical CO₂ absorbs and later separates the target phytochemicals. In contrast, tinctures are made by soaking hemp buds in alcohol. Typically, the end product takes the form of a dropper bottle of CBD-infused alcohol. Although tinctures are effective, CBD oils offer a more refined and purified end product.
Which CBD Oil Is Best for You?
This depends entirely on your own needs and desires. If you’re new to CBD and want to test the waters, you’ll probably find a lower-percentage product works best. If you’ve been using CBD for a while, or simply want to start with a higher dose for whatever reason, more potent products offer much higher quantities of the cannabinoid per drop.
What Is the Strongest Form of CBD Oil?
CBD oils with concentrations of 40% offer the highest dose of CBD oil. These products provide, on average, around 3000mg of CBD per bottle and 19mg of CBD per drop.
Is CBD Oil Safe?
CBD oil is generally safe and well-tolerated in most people. However, you should always consult your doctor before taking CBD, as the cannabinoid affects the metabolism of some medications.
Does CBD Oil Have Side Effects?
Although mostly well-tolerated, side effects do occur in some users, such as dry mouth, diarrhoea, reduced appetite, drowsiness, and fatigue.
Can You Get High From CBD Oil?
As a non-psychotropic cannabinoid, CBD doesn’t produce a high like THC. Instead, the molecule supports a clear mind, and may actually reduce the psychotropic effects of THC when used together.
How Long Does CBD Oil Take to Work?
The onset of CBD varies depending on the route of administration. Oral CBD takes 30–60 minutes to take effect and lasts 4–6 hours. Sublingual CBD oil takes effect within several minutes and lasts around 4 hours.
Will CBD Oil Show Up on a Drug Test?
CBD itself won’t show up on a drug test. However, most CBD oils contain trace amounts of THC. Although minute, even negligible amounts of THC may show up on a drug test. We strongly advise purchasing lab-tested CBD products and reducing consumption before possible workplace drug testing.
