Green Gelato Strain Information
Green Gelato possesses several key traits that make her one of the most popular strains in the Royal Queen Seeds library. Among these, her colossal THC content of 27% makes her rank as one of the most potent cultivars on the planet. But where exactly does Green Gelato get its power and attractive characteristics?
Our breeders started the creation process with Sunset Sherbet, an indica-dominant hybrid that descends from Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. Bred and popularised in the United States, this strain provides a tropical and peach-flavored infusion alongside a relaxing and tingly high. Next, they crossed these stellar genetics with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, another indica-dominant strain that passed down purple hues and a body-slamming yet creative high. Overall, Green Gelato emerged as the progeny of this duo with 55% indica genetics and 45% sativa.
Green Gelato Characteristics
Green Gelato cannabis doesn't just offer pretty colors and enormous quantities of THC. This strain also tempts growers with her relatively compact size, huge yields, and brief flowering time. Indoors, plants grow to 80–120 cm, depending on container size and any training and topping techniques used. However, despite her average size and structure, her sheer productivity results in massive yields.
-
Green Gelato Taste
When it comes to the taste of Gelato cannabis genetics, the clue is in the name! First bred by Cookies Fam Genetics in the United States, Gelato strains took the cannabis world by storm with their sweet, desert-like flavors. Green Gelato's tastes diverge slightly from the original but maintain aspects of sugary sweetness. However, these buds treat users to a much more complex sensory experience. When smoking a blunt or bowl of these buds, you'll detect contrasting yet complimentary notes of citrus, earth, mint, pepper, and vanilla.

Green Gelato Effects
With a simply staggering THC content of 27%, Green Gelato pulls no punches. Within moments of taking a couple of hits from a bong, blunt, vape, or joint, you'll feel her effects start to take hold. Initially, you'll feel a burst of vigour and clear-headedness as the experience gains altitude. Then, you'll cruise at great heights for an hour or two as bouts of creativity and euphoria emerge.
Finally, unless you smoke up again, you'll gently touch down, finding yourself immersed in a pleasant stoning afterglow and hankering for great quantities of food, courtesy of the munchies. While THC plays a central role in Green Gelato's high, it isn't the only important phytochemical at work—elevated levels of the terpene myrcene help to steer the high in a stoning and clear-headed direction.
Growing Green Gelato
Green Gelato always impresses even the most seasoned of growers. Her genetic vigour, sensible size, rapid flowering time, and hefty harvests leave little to be desired. Germinating Green Gelato
Green Gelato cannabis seeds boast a superb germination rate, and sprouts typically emerge from the soil 2–3 days after sowing. To make cultivation as streamlined as possible, we suggest sowing directly into a 35L pot. Your plant will happily reach maturity in this container size, both indoors and outdoors, without having to endure transplant stress along the way.
Fill your pot with high-quality potting soil and sow your seed. Add a pinch of mycorrhizal fungi to the hole to optimise germination and root system formation. Cover the hole and mist lightly. Once sprouts emerge, start running your light for 18–24 hours daily to avoid leggy seedlings. Expect your seedling to stand at a height of around 5 cm by the end of the first week.
-
Vegetative Phase
During the veg phase, your Green Gelato plant will put all its energy into developing a luscious canopy and future bud sites. Routine applications of liquid seaweed and fish emulsion will give your plant ample nitrogen to fuel leafy growth. During week two, expect your plant to be around 10 cm, so aim for a humidity of 60% and a temperature of 26°C to facilitate further plant development. During week three, apply LST to keep your plants on the shorter side without dampening productivity.
If you want to transition your grow op outdoors, your plant will have matured enough by this point to better resist pests and disease. Simply position your plant in a spot that receives full sun. Prepare to watch your outdoor plants peak at around 140 cm by the time the flowering phase starts. Indoor plants require a light cycle of 12 hours on and 12 hours off to force them to bloom.
-
Flowering Phase
Green Gelato stretches during bloom as the production of flowering hormones ramps up. You can expect indoor plants to peak at 120 cm and their outdoor counterparts to reach up to 200 cm, depending on container size. You'll notice her pre-flowers quickly bulge into compact buds within the first few weeks of flowering. As her blossoms mature, their trichomes become more opaque, and pistils convert from white to amber. Flush your plants during the final two weeks of bloom for tastier flowers and a smoother smoke.
-
Harvest
You can expect to start harvesting, trimming, and drying up to 700 g/m² from indoor plants after a flowering time of just 8–10 weeks—an impressive feat, to say the least! Likewise, outdoor plants peak at 200 cm when grown directly in the ground or a large raised bed. In a sunny position, they can churn out up to 800 g/plant, ready to harvest in early October.
