How to Grow F1 Hybrid Seedlings with the RQS F1 Seed Germination Kit

  • Remove your F1 hybrid seeds from their packaging. Be careful not to damage the seeds.
  • Unpack the Easy Start pots and the included sachet of Bacto rooting bacteria.
  • Prepare 1 litre of lukewarm water (22–25°C). Add in the sachet of Bacto and stir the mixture to activate the bacteria. Place the mixture in a tub large enough to hold the Easy Start pots.
  • Let your Easy Start pots soak by placing them in the mixture you prepared in Step 3.
  • While soaking your Easy Start pots, place the perlite in the base of your propagator.
  • Place your soaked Easy Start pots on top of the perlite.
  • Make 5–10 mm-deep holes in the middle of each Easy Start pot. Place a seed in every hole and cover it very lightly with soil.
  • Finish assembling your propagator, putting on its walls and lid and turning on the LED lights. Put the propagator aside and wait 1–6 days for your seeds to germinate.
  • IMPORTANT: Do not open the propagator or disturb your seedlings until they have germinated. You can check on them by peeking through the clear sides of the propagator, but do not open it. Doing so will cause humidity loss, which can stall the germination process—or worse, cause it to fail.
  • Wait for your seedlings to grow 3 cm tall, then transfer them gently into their final containers.

How to Use the Lights on Your RQS F1 Hybrid Seed Propagator

Each RQS propagator comes with rechargeable LED lights that emit cool, low-watt light rays perfect for seedlings. For the best results, keep the lights running for 24 hours during the first 1–2 weeks to promote compact growth. Keep your LED lights plugged in at all times using the included USB-C cable.
