The RQS Carbon Filter 150 mm is our full-size activated-carbon filter for mid-size and large grow tents, sized to handle the higher flow rates coming out of a 600 m³/h inline fan without losing dwell time in the carbon bed. 15 cm internal diameter, 40 cm long, matched to the 90x90x200 cm and 120x120x200 cm tents in our range.
RQS Carbon Filter 150 mm: Odour Control for Mid-Size and Large Grow Tents
Part of our new RQS cultivation range, the 150 mm carbon filter is the odour-management match for our 90x90x200 cm and 120x120x200 cm grow tents. A larger internal diameter and a longer carbon bed than the 100 mm model let it process the 600 m³/h (353 CFM) throughput of the matched inline fan while still giving each cubic metre of air enough contact with the activated carbon to strip terpenes, VOCs, and ambient grow smell effectively.
Dwell Time and Flow Rate: Why Filter Size Matches Fan Capacity
Adsorption is time-dependent. Odour molecules need enough contact time with the activated carbon to bind; push too much air through too small a filter and molecules pass through the bed before binding, which shows up as smell breaking through at the exhaust. The 150 mm filter's 15 x 40 cm body gives the 600 m³/h fan a carbon bed sized for that throughput. A smaller filter on the same fan would shorten dwell time below the adsorption threshold; a larger one would cost static-pressure headroom without adding useful capacity. Matching filter diameter to fan capacity is what keeps the extraction stream efficient and the tent smell-tight.
Pairing with a 6-Inch Inline Fan
The 150 mm filter is rated for the 600 m³/h (353 CFM) throughput of our 6-inch inline fan, sitting at the top end of its carbon-bed dwell-time budget rather than at the edge. The RQS 90x90x200 cm and 120x120x200 cm tents include 6-inch duct ports as standard, so the filter drops straight into the top corner mounting rail without reducers or adapters. For the cleanest exhaust-side air path, run the fan at 50 to 70 percent speed most of the time and reserve full capacity for late-flower smell peaks: slower air gives the carbon more time to work, and the fan lasts longer at the lower RPM.
