EASY START: FOR FOOLPROOF ORGANIC GERMINATION

No matter how lacking in green your fingers are, you’ll get great germination results by following these step-by-step instructions: Empty the Bacto packet attached on the reverse of the label into a litre of water. When it’s thoroughly dissolved, pour it over your pots.
Allow any excess solution to drain off, then drop one seed into each pre-made hole and push gently down with a pencil or something else pointy until the seed is 5-10 mm deep. You may want to mutter a prayer under your breath at this stage, but it should not be necessary.

Germination usually occurs within 5 days, after which the new seedlings can be planted in your grow medium.

MAKING THE BEST START WITH YOUR EASY START POTS

Things you’ll need:

  1. Cannabis seeds
  2. Water and measuring vessel
  3. Some Perlite
  4. A propagator
  5. Screwdriver or something to poke holes with
  6. Binder, tape or tie-wrap
METHOD
  1. First measure out a litre of lukewarm water (about 25 degrees Celsius / 77 degrees Fahrenheit) and dissolve the contents of the Bacto (activating bacteria) packet that’s delivered with the Easy Start kit in it. Sprinkle a layer of Perlite in the propagator and place the pots on it. Moisten – don’t drench - the Perlite and the pots with the Bacto mixture you made. The Bacto activates the microbial life in the pot that is essential for germination.
  2. Make sure that the Perlite layer holds only a small water reservoir that stays well below the Perlite’s surface. By keeping the right moisture level the pots will remain moist too by absorbing water from it. Too much water and they might become waterlogged, which could be harmful to the seedlings. The humidity inside the propagator will also be kept high, which is a good thing. During the germination process, check the pots at least once a day to make sure that the moisture in the Perlite remains at a good level, neither too dry nor too wet.
  3. Each pot comes with a hole already pricked in it, and this needs to be enlarged to between 5 and 10 mm in depth. This can be easily done by marking this distance on the screwdriver with a piece of tape or tie-wrap. Then simply poke the screwdriver into the pot until the marker is level with the pot’s surface. Voila - each hole is now the right depth.
  4. For the final step, drop a single cannabis seed into the hole in each pot and if necessary poke them down gently with the screwdriver until they are at the right depth. It doesn’t matter which end of the cannabis seed is facing up; the seedling will naturally head for the surface of the pot whilst the root will grow in the opposite direction. The actual sprouting process is quite enigmatic but most cannabis seeds will take 1-6 days to germinate. It’s important to be patient in this period and avoid the temptation of opening the pot to check inside! But after a few days or a week, the root will elongate and then the seedling will emerge from the compost, often with its seedpod sitting like a hat on the two tiny seed leaves. Don’t remove the seed’s pod yourself; it will fall off of its own accord. Trying to peel it off risks damaging the first fragile leaves of the seedling, and these are vital for initiating the supply of food to the young plant.
  5. Once the seedlings have reached height of 2–3 cms, remove the pot tray from the propagator and slide the seedlings gently from their plastic. These single seedlings can now be re-potted into the containers you plan to raise your plants to maturity in. No need to remove the soil sticked around the young plants—in fact, avoid doing so as this risks damaging the delicate roots. Just pop the whole thing into whatever grow medium you’re using—soil, hydro or clay pebbles.

All that remains now is to sit back and enjoy the natural miracle of life! That, and taking care of feeding, watering and so on – but that’s another story.

    Title : Super!
Comment : First time I used it and will definately use it again. Seedlings are less stressed when transplanted. I put a little earth for seedlings underneath the container because some seeds poke their roots first before their first two, leaves. Roots do not bend or dry this way.

Title : Handy but a bit small
Comment : The easy start kit is very handy for germinating your seeds, but I find it a bit small. If it were bigger the seeds could stay in there a bit longer and grow a stronger root so you can safely and more easily transfer them to another pot. Other than that, it is a perfect kit for people who want to plant their first seeds, no matter what kind.

Kann man das Substrat in größeren Mengen kaufen?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

We do not sell the substrate separately, only in this packs.

From Scilla Carraro | 2018-06-13 21:50:28

Buona sera, ho acquistato dei semi e l’easy start Seeds germinator, ma non ho capito dopo aver piantato i semi dove devo esporre il kit? Devi tenerlo sempre sotto il sole? Ombra? All’aperto? Dentro casa?... grazie mille

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You can keep them in the place you consider is the best option depending of the conditions.

From Gioele | 2018-05-26 11:15:56

Ma dopo aver messo i semi a germogliare nel kit easy start .. bisogna darli da bere fino a quando non vengono fuori le piantine ?.

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You do not need to open the pot to water the seeds. Once the seedlings have reached a height of 2–3 cms, remove the pot tray to re-potted the seeds into the containers you are planning to use.

From Nicola | 2018-05-16 15:01:00

If do I use this kit at many times, can I keep the bacto or it will lose all his properties? Is there a way to buy just the bacto, without the complete easy start kit?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

We do not sell the bacto powder separately and we recommend to use one bacto sachet each time you germinate. Keeping it for more uses can make that the composition lose his properties.

From Danilo | 2018-05-10 09:37:52

ha senso comprare questo kit per un solo seme e in piu non ho capito nei vasi ce gia la terra?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You can buy it and keep for upcoming orders. The kit comes with the soil in the pots.

From Sherica | 2018-05-07 14:09:40

Does it come with the soil?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

Yes, the pots come filled with the soil.

From Maurice | 2018-02-14 18:46:58

Ist der Propagator schon dabei, oder nur die Keimmischung?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

The Easy start contains the pots and the bacto, the propagator is not included, it comes with the Starter kit.

From vito goderecci | 2017-12-19 20:38:29

ma ci sono i semi nel kitt ?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

This pack does not contain any seeds. Seeds are included only in the Startes Kit, either Feminized or Autoflowering.

From Chris McCaul | 2017-11-27 21:26:03

Do you germinate in the dark or under lights with the 'Easy Start' system?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You can germinate either way. Adding light will lead the plant to come out of the soil once it has sprouted as they always stretch looking for light.

From Mitchell Sanders | 2017-10-16 11:11:16

"No need to remove the little Easy Start pots – in fact, avoid doing so as this risks damaging the delicate roots. Just pop the whole thing into whatever grow medium you’re using – soil, hydro or clay pebbles" By this, I understand that the germinated plant should not be taken out from the original germinating pot, and "the whole thing" should be transferred to a new pot for growing. Won't the plastic from the initial pot block the growing of the roots if the plant is not taken out before setting in in the new grow medium?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You need to remove the plastic cover and replant just the soil with the seed. Otherwise the root would not have space to grow.

From mitchell sanders | 2017-10-15 01:15:32

When you say to transfer to a bigger pot by putting in the whole easy pot inside the new soil, will the roots not be blocked by the plastic of the original pot when they grow? Thanks

Royal Queen Seeds Team

At this point the roots won't be that big yet, this is why we advise to change the plants at this moment.

From Tobias | 2017-10-12 18:18:21

Hallo, kann man das benutzte Bacto/ Wassergemisch öfter und in einem größeren Zeitraum verwenden?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

We recommend to use one backto sachet each time you germinate. Keeping it for more uses can make that the composition lose his properties.

From Matteo Calandrelli | 2017-10-05 21:57:44

i want to know if the the little black pots inside the easy start kit they are seeds already inside or if i need to put some seed by my own inside the pots and after that i will put some Bacto and water right?

Royal Queen Seeds Team

You need to add the seeds, there are no seeds in the pots.
