Top 20 Weed Songs To Get High To: A Musical Journey (Part1/2)

RAP & HIP HOP – ALWAYS AN EXCELLENT CHOICE

Luniz – I Got 5 on It (1995, Operation Stackola, West Coast Hip Hop)

I got 5 on It was released in May 1995 and features vocal contributions from R&B singer Michael Mashall. It’s by far the most popular song by Luniz and an absolute classic if there’s a party coming up including pools, BBQ’s and woman, not to mention piles of dank weed. Streetcore-knowledge from Oakland, insane lyrics, and a well-known beat make I Got 5 on It perfect to smoke to. Talking about classic beats, maybe try “Warren G – Regulate feat. Nate Dogg” next.

Dr. Dre – Still D.R.E. feat Snoop Dogg (1999, 2001, G-Funk/Hip Hop)

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg both have countless tracks that are perfect for weed smoking. Still D.R.E. features them both, and can be a good starting point. Not only Dr. Dre’s “2001” is a very good album, try also “The Chronic”, and earlier N.W.A. recordings.

Cypress Hill – Yo Quiero Fumar Mota (1999, Los Grandes Éxitos en Español, West Coast Hip Hop)

Cypress Hill and rap artist B-Real produced some of the best Hip Hop tracks of all times. If you want to discover classics like “Hits from the Bong”, “I Wanna Get Gigh” or “Dr. Greenthumb” from a different perspective, listen to them in Spanish. Most dope!

Kendrick Lamar – Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe (2012, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, West Coast Hip Hop)

Kendrick Lamar was born in Compton, Los Angeles, home of the finest West Coast rap. Both lyrics and beats make his music highly suitable to smoking sessions. Maybe start off with this one, and then continue with A.D.H.D. and Poetic Justice. This rapper truly deserves the title rap ARTIST!

Schoolboy Q – Hands on the Wheel (2012, Habits & Contradictions, West-Coast Gangsta Rap)

All these songs mentioned before don’t accurately match your lifestyle of being a thug in the 21st century? With Schoolboy Q, we might have something for you. Schoolboy Q is a rapper based in south LA, just like Kendrick Lamar, but his style is straight-up gangsta. If you’re into this, you will most likely find stuff you like in either “Habits and Contradictions” or “Oxymoron”.

ELECTRONIC MUSIC – GETS YOU HIGH WITH OR WITHOUT SMOKING

Flying Lotus – MmmHmm (2010, Cosmogramma, Psychedelic Hip Hop)

Flying Lotus is an experimental multi-genre producer, electronic musician, Dj and rapper from California. It’s not easy to put his style into a genre but psychedelic Hip Hop seems appropriate, maybe blended with influences from IDM, definitely electronic music after all. The videos are extra-trippy and made for bud smokers!

Chrome Sparks – Marijuana (2013, Sparks EP, Future Beats)

Marijuana by Chrome Sparks has a sick beat and a badass youtube video! What more to ask for when filling our lungs with smoke? People describe his genre as Future Beats, and this seems to fit the sound. This guy is definitely worth checking out when smoker-friendly electronic beats are desired.

Paul Kalkbrenner – Feed your Head (2015, 7, Techno)

Paul Kalkbrenner is most definitely one of the best Techno producers on earth. If you like to get high while listening to Techno/Minimal give Paul Kalkbrenner your attention, and discover what he skillfully created. Make sure you don’t miss “Sky and Sand” after listening to “Feed your Head”.

Skazi – Brothers (2015, Spin, Psy-Trance)

You want to go all the way when listening to electronic music? No problem, prepare your mind for Skazi, an Israeli Psychedelic Trance Dj with roots in Punk Rock. He skillfully combines hard rock elements with powerful beats and will be a good choice for anyone who likes it hard, fast, and loud.

Matt Simons – Catch & Release Deepend Remix (2015, No Album, House)

When you appreciate House music, give this Deepend remix of Catch & Release by Matt Simons a chance. Deepend is a Dutch House duo. Bob van Ratingen and Falco van den Anker are both masters of their craft, and managed to go straight to No.1 in Germany, France, Belgium, and Spain. Great lyrics by Matt Simons meet an excellent House beat produced in the Netherlands.
